We just got back from Beaver Creek, CO and I love that their slogan was "Not Exactly Roughing It." We had a great trip and enjoyed the cooler weather. Our friends Katie and Zach met us there, unfortunately, Jason had to stay behind. On our first full day there we set off for the horse stables which were a little walk up the mountain from our hotel. Kate and Whitney enjoyed seeing the horses and Kate enjoyed riding the pony. Whitney, on the otherhand, was not about to leave the safety of Daddy's arms. After naps we proceeded to get Trevor's round of golf in the mountains in. The girls and I decided to tag along because the scenery is just too spectacular to miss. Plus it was a great time for me to snap a bunch of pictures. I love the dandelion pictures I was able to get of Kate and Whitney making wishes. On Day 2 we visited the Vail Nature Center and walked a few trails surrounding it. Then it was off to riding bikes in the afternoon. We found a good flat trail for Kate to ride her bike around a small lake. She went around it twice and did a great job, except for catching a little too much speed over a bridge and running head on into a tree. Oops! She was fine and actually got right back on her bike. Thank Goodness! After two times around the lake, she got in with Whitney and we rode the trail from Avon to Edwards. The girls really enjoyed riding together with only a few little scuffles. On Day 3 we rode up the gondola in Vail. It was very overcast that day, which made it pretty cool. The views were great and Kate and Whitney enjoyed playing in the snow. The gondola ride was fun in itself so we decided to ride it a few times. In the afternoon we set out on some trails close to our hotel. Kate got to jump on the bungee trampoline and boy did she get high. Then we got to have smores that evening. We actually had them two nights in a row. I love smores! The next day we left for home. Whitney is going to miss her buddy Zach. She really enjoyed holding is hand and telling him what to do. I think she would like to be a big sister someday. We always leave looking forward to when we will go back.
